Based on the great success of the DVD Drive that you helped me with for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), I have decided to go at it again, but this time with a Toy Drive benefiting CHLA.

These children need help and support.  At the hospital, many of the kids endure things that we as adults could never imagine.  When I delivered the first round of DVDs to the hospital, I had an opportunity to walk the floors and see some of the kids.  It inspired and amazed me how the children were so positive and had smiles on their faces, even though many were dealing with serious illnesses.  Small things like DVDs and toys make a big difference to these children as they and their families try to remain upbeat and deal with the health issues that affect not just the child, but the entire family.

CHLA gives out approximately 500 to 600 toys per week to the children.  The hospital gives a toy to a child for each week the child is in the hospital, for every procedure or surgery the child has, on the child’s birthday, if the child is unable to bring toys from home, and of course during the holidays. The hospital’s toy inventory is comprised entirely of items generously provided by donors.   With the holiday season approaching the need for toys is even greater.

I am once again reaching out to my family, friends and community and hope that you will find it in your heart to help and to spread the word about the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Toy Drive. This toy drive for CHLA will take place from September through December 10th, 2008.
